Hoops From Mini To Majestic
A variety of hoop sizes from Mini to Majestic are available to stitch beautiful embroideries. Choose the smallest hoop appropriate for the size of the design for best results and easy hooping. The Mini Hoop is perfect to embroider clothing for children and dolls, or select the Majestic Hoop to create one of a kind home dec or fashion embroidery.
Hoop Types
There are a number of different types of hoop - which you choose will depend on the type of embroidery you are doing and what you are embroidering onto. They broadly fit into the following categories:
Standard hoops
Standard hoops are the most commonly used and are generally included with your embroidery machine, although not all standard hoops are included with all embroidery machines. They include the Designer Imperial Hoop, the Designer Royal Hoop, the designer Crown Hoop, the Designer Jewel Hoop, the Designer Splendid Square Hoop, the 5" x 7" Design Hoop and the Standard Hoop.
Endless hoops
Endless hoops are used when stitching endless embroideries - designs with a repeating pattern that can go on forever! An endless design includes markers are the start and end of the design, which you match up using design position to ensure precision alignment of the design. Endless hoops don't have to be removed from the embroidery unit in order to re-hoop, allowing you to rehoop quickly and get right back to stitching out your design! These include the Mega Endless hoop and the Endless Embroidery Hoop II, but magnetic hoops can also be used as endless hoops.
Magnetic hoops
Magnetic hoops are made of a thin, flat piece of metal and the fabric is held in place with a number of very strong magnets. This makes them very useful for difficult-to-hoop fabrics (e.g thick/coarse/thin/glossy fabrics), fabrics that can be damaged by hooping. They are particularly useful for hooping ready-to-wear garments, which can be difficult or impossible due to seams, narrow areas or buttons/rivets. They can also be used as endless hoops. There are four magnetic hoops – the 200x200 Quilters Metal Hoop, the Large Metal Hoop, the Medium Metal Hoop and the Small Metal Hoop.
Speciality hoops
Speciality hoops are designed for more specific types of embroidery. These include:
- Quilters: useful for embroidering on a quilting block and minimise fabric/stabiliser wastage (Mega Quilters Hoop, 200x200 Quilters Hoop, 200x200 Quilters Metal Hoop, Do All Quilters Hoop)
- Square: minimise fabric/stabiliser wastage (Mega Quilters Hoop, 200x200 Quilters Hoop, 200x200 Quilters Metal Hoop, Do All Quilters Hoop, Small Square Hoop, Small Metal Hoop, Standard Hoop)
- Small: for best results you should use the smallest hoop to fit your design. This also minimises fabric and stabiliser wastage (Small Metal Hoop, Standard Hoop, Small Square Hoop, Mini Embroidery Spring Hoop)
- Dual connector: also known as a turning hoop as it can be connected to the unit either way up (Mega Turntable Hoop, Majestic Hoop)
- Dual inner: a hoop with two inner hoops provided, one of which is used for heavyweight fabrics and the other is used for lightweight fabrics (Do All Quilter's Hoop)
- Free arm: embroider tubular garments or items with a closed end without unpicking seams on, e.g. t-shirts, bags (Free Arm Embroidery Hoop)
- Circular spring: a very small hoop that can be used to stitch tiny designs on lightweight fabrics (Mini Embroidery Spring Hoop)
